About a week ago, my pastor at church gave a sermon on evangelism of what to do and what not to do while sharing our faith with others. He gave a couple good pointers. He mentioned that we should try to hear the other persons story in regards to things that may be happening in their life. Look for some kind of need in their life. He said we shouldn’t just surprise them by sharing Jesus right away in the conversation. I would like to hear your story about a specific need that you may have, and how Jesus can give you the ray of hope you need. Please feel free to leave comments.
The trillion dollar question is what will happen to you when you die?
What do you think happens to a person when they die? Do you believe in the afterlife? Do you believe there is a heaven and a hell? Do you believe in God? A higher percentage of people believe they will go to heaven when they die, and or believe in an afterlife. Here are some questions to ask yourself. Do you consider yourself to be a good person? If you answered yes, the bible says in Romans 3:10 As it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one. Here’s a short test for you. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God’s name in vain as a cussword? Have you ever thought lustful thoughts about someone? The answer would be yes to all of the above, because we are all guilty of this. If you have ever told a lie, that makes you a liar. If you have stolen anything, that makes you a thief. If you have used God’s name in vain as a cussword, that’s blasphemy against God which is a serious sin. If you have thought lustful thoughts about another man or woman, the bible says you’re just as guilty of committing the physical act of Adultery. So by our own admittance, we are lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterers at heart. We are all lost sinners. And these are breaking 4 of the 10 commandments. The bible says if you have broken 1, you have broken them all. James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. If God is to judge us by the 10 commandments we are all guilty and on our way to hell. So right here, this disqualifies anyone from going to heaven. The bible says in Romans 3:23 we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We can’t get to heaven by anything we have done, such as our own good works or deeds. We can only get to heaven by the shed blood of Christ on the cross. The good news is that God came into this world fully human in Jesus Christ to die and shed his blood on the cross, was buried, and rose from the dead three days later. 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 1 Corinthians 15:4 and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Jesus died the substitutionary death on the cross that we deserved. He paid a debt we could not pay. He died in our place so that we could come into a rightful relationship with God. John 14:6 Jesus answered, I’m the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes unto the Father but by me. God offers this free gift of salvation to all. God loves you no matter what you have done, no matter what skin color you are, race, creed etc… If you were the only person alive, Jesus would have died for you. We all come to Christ as broken human beings. Come as you are to Christ, and he will make you a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. We come as we are broken, and God can put us back together again. He has a plan and a purpose for your life. The hope that is needed lies in Jesus Christ. If you want to be sure that when you die you will go to heaven and not hell, put your faith and trust in Jesus, and he will grant you eternal life. Do you have this assurance? If you don’t, now is the time to accept Christ as savior. You never know the day or time when you will die. Tomorrow isn’t promised to any of us. After death it’s too late, and all that awaits is hell and judgment. God is reaching down to redeem you, if you put your faith and trust in his son Jesus Christ.
When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and savior, God began to change my life. I was broken as we all are. I had a lot of anger, not much joy, was moody, and sometimes depressed. In fact, my wife had at one time regretted marrying me. I never went to church, prayed, never read the Bible, shared Jesus with others, or fellowshipped with other Christians. Jesus changed all of that, once I put my faith, and trust in him. My wife saw that transformation in me along with my kids, and others. I started having the hunger for the word of God, the Bible, going to church every Sunday, praying everyday, sharing Jesus with others, and fellowshipping with other followers of Jesus. God did all of this in my life. He opened up my younger son’s heart to Jesus. My son and I got baptized together. My son now willfully comes to church every Sunday, prays, and reads his bible. This is all from God’s doing. God can change anyone who is willing to seek him. I didn’t give up anything. It was God who gave up his son Jesus Christ to die and shed his blood on the cross for my sins. I just believed the gospel in faith, and God did the rest. Thank you Jesus for saving my son and I, and dying on the cross for our sins, and the worlds sins, I continue to pray daily for my older son, and wife that they too would invite Jesus into their hearts. He answered my prayer with my younger son, so there is hope for my wife, and older son, as there was hope for me at age 44. So for those who are reading this, never stop praying for you’re unbelieving spouse, children, family members, friends, co-workers, etc..Just share the gospel with them, and pray they will invite Jesus into their heart. Keep living the Godly life God has called you to live. Once they do invite Jesus into their heart, God will do the rest. Praise the Lord amen.
They, and you can pray a prayer like this: Lord Jesus I know that I am a sinner. I believe you are the son of God. I believe you came into this world to die and shed your blood on the cross, were buried, and rose from the dead three days later. Lord Jesus, I choose to turn away from my sins and turn to you by accepting you into my heart in faith as my Lord and savior. Please forgive me of my sins. Please save me. I pray this in Jesus name amen!
